Tamar Bartaia
Writer, scriptwriter, playwright
Family: Mariam Chkhaidze, 11 years.

1982 – 87  Shota Rustaveli Institute of Cinema and Theatre; speciality Drama (Erlom Akhvlediani’s studio)
2000 – 02  Post Graduate course in Drama (Temur Chkheidze’s studio)

2002  Grand Prix of the Eurasia TV Film Festival for the documentary film script Entrance Exams
2004  Prize of the literary contest New Georgian Play
2000  Prize of the Georgian Church for the documentary film script Along the Apostles’ Road
2006  Prize of the Orthodox Film International Festival for the film Cyprus – the Way to Jerusalem (director)
2007 Four stars on the Edinburg International Festival

Over 20 feature, documentary and animation films are made based on Tamar Bartaia’s scripts.

Her plays are staged at:
The Wishing Tree  Georgian Puppet Theatre (UNESCO project).
The Rendezvous  Kote Marjanishvili Theatre
The Mirror  The Royal District Theatre (the performance was awarded State Prize)
The Dress London, director Hilary Wood (the play is also presented at Edinburgh Festival in 2007)

T. Bartaia is the author of several mass performances, among them the New Year Show for the State TV Company.

Her work is published in two books:
The Landscape Lacks Warmth (plays and stories)
Four Plays ( plays in English)

At present Tamar Bartaia is teaching Drama at Tbilisi University of Cinema and Drama and works as a scriptwriter in TV Company Rustavi-2.
